In 2000, Captain AJ Gambino a lifelong resident of Hancock County, began his law enforcement career with the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks. In 2004, Captain Gambino began his career with the Hancock County Sheriff's Office as a reserve deputy holding dual commissions with the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks. Just prior to Hurricane Katrina in 2005, Captain Gambino began a full-time career with the Hancock County Sheriff's Office as a patrol officer to better impact his community.
In 2009, to advance his law enforcement experience, accepted a position as a Deputy Sheriff working for the Harrison County Sheriff's Office under Sheriff Melvin Brisolara. In 2011, just prior to the election of Sheriff Ricky Adam in 2012, Captain Gambino accepted a position with the Hancock County Sheriff's Office and shortly thereafter was promoted to the ranks of a Criminal Investigator.
During Captain Gambino's time as a Criminal Investigator he has conducted several high profile investigations and has worked closely with various state and federal agencies. Captain Gambino’s time as a Criminal Investigator has produced over 250 felony arrests in various violent crimes, property crimes, |
crimes against children, financial crimes, public corruption and internal affairs investigations which required a close working relationship with the District Attorney's Office.
Captain Gambino is a graduate of University of Southern Mississippi’s Southern Regional Public Safety Institute (SRPSI) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Mississippi Command College. Captain Gambino is a certified examiner of computer voice stress (CVSA) with NITV Federal Services. Captain Gambino is one of limited few law enforcement officers in the State Of Mississippi to hold the designation of CFE, Certified Fraud Examiner with the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE).
Captain Gambino, a Diamondhead resident, is charged with the responsibility as Commander of the Diamondhead Division of the Hancock County Sheriff's Office working to improve the quality of life of Diamondhead residents as well as the residents of Hancock County. |
